Flash space game version 2

So here is is everyone, this is where I'm stopping. All I was doing was experimenting, and I managed to get flash cs4 movement down!

No lag, and the joystick functions correctly. Someone also tipped me off that you may not have known how to move. So here are the simple controls.

Up Arrow --- Move Up
Down Arrow --- Move Down
Left Arrow --- Move Left
Right Arrow --- Move Right

Spacebar --- Shoot(Not really, it just moves the button)

Spaceship Shooter
No, never mind

Spaceship Movement

All in all, i belive that I accomplished my goal of a good movement interface. Next up, my ambitions are much higher.

I'm going for something like this.

I admit it is a heavy, well made, content packed game.

Well, taking small steps, I just may get to that level. Wish me luck.

PS: If you ready any of my posts, please comment, and say what you think.

Bamboo, The Divine Graphics Tablet

Here it is, my first graphics tablet. I really didn't know what to expect, and I admit I had many doubts.

How was I going to draw if I had to write on the tablet, and look at the screen?
Could I use it for something other than drawing?
What the heck is a graphics tablet?

Instead of researching it, I was just given one. (Hoorah!)

Trying It Out
It cam out of the box, and it looked like a very fancy, shiny, new piece of technology. That's exactly what it is. Somehow, this tablet manages to recognize down to a single gram of pressure, and senses the pen when you hold it about 2 cm above the tablet. I can control the cursor by moving the pen.

Here's the weird part... The pen, has NO BATERIES.

How in the world???

I haven't figured it out yet, but I'm sure I will.

Drawing
Drawing with a graphics tablet is hard. Really, really hard. But it can be done. Just don't expect to rock at it right out of the box. I made that mistake.

Here's my first drawing attempt.

Yuck. Just plain Yuck.

So I looked it up, and apparently graphics tablets are very hard to draw with. That wasn't very helpful, I had already figured that out, But it also said that tablets are very good for coloring.

Coloring Steps (According to this person)
1)Draw a rock your socks off drawing

2)Scan it, and open an image editing program like photoshop.

3)Pick a color.

4)Make magic.

Okay everyone, I have yet to try this, but I will, and I'll try to remember to post it. Until then, check out my other Technology adventures.

Flash Space Arcade

So when you are making a computer game, and you want it to look retro, and old style, what do you do?

Add a background and a couple of controls, like a joystick and a button.

Just give that flash file a couple seconds to load, and check out my shiny little arcade like frame.

The ship lags a bit, but I think the joystick is satisfactory. I'm working on this as a project, let me know in a comment if you like it.

If there is a request, I may post a tutorial for making a flash game joystick, but for now, enjoy the version that is out.

Cheers!
